Testimonies of Healing

There never will be words to express...

From the February 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There never will be words to express the gratitude my family and I have for what Christian Science has done for us since we first turned completely to this teaching in a time of dire need many years ago.

We had exhausted all human help. I had spent time that summer in a veterans' hospital, and was considered an outpatient. Our home had been lost due to lack of funds. It was becoming more and more difficult even to feed my family. Within the week our business was to be closed because of debts and lack of funds. I had borrowed from friends, members of my family, and legal lending institutions. I finally found myself thinking in terms of self-destruction, as I saw no way out.

I had made a remark to a friend one Friday evening that I wished he would ask his wife, who was a fine student of Christian Science, to use her religion in our behalf; otherwise something was going to happen. The next morning the wife of my friend came into our shop and placed on our counter a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, along with a copy of The Christian Science Journal. She told me she wanted me to talk with a Christian Science practitioner that very day, but that she would not recommend anyone to me, for that must be my first step. She told me that there was a list of practitioners in the back of the Journal and if I would honestly pray over it I would know which one I should talk with.
