Christian Science is not just a therapeutic agent. It is a way of life—the way of spiritual understanding—of knowing and acting—based on the revealed truth of God and man and their relationship.
The difference between healing as an end in itself and healing as the spontaneous expression of spiritual-mindedness and love is one of emphasis. Healing is important; healing is in fact essential. But it is not an end in itself.
Do we "use" Christian Science or do we allow it to use us? Do we treat ourselves or the situation in which we find ourselves only when discomfort or inharmony forces us to? Do we sometimes tend to take Christian Science in small doses to relieve the distress of the moment without rising to the truth of being to expose the basic error? If so, then to just that extent our emphasis is wrong.
