The Outreach of Our Church Services

From the March 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A few months ago I received a letter from my branch church inviting me to a meeting in the interest of improving the outreach of our church.

It was a good letter, and I was enjoying it until I came to the paragraph enumerating our "outreach activities": lectures, Reading Room, Sunday School, Monitor advertising and circulation, literature distribution—but not our church services.

I found myself asking, "Why don't we consider our services as outreach? Do we think that church services are just for us?"
