Spiritualization: The Ultimate Goal

From the March 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Matter does not really exist. All is Spirit. Man is spiritual, not material.

These are bold statements, and most mortals would hear them with skepticism. Nevertheless, they are statements regularly proclaimed at all Sunday services held in Churches of Christ, Scientist, throughout the world. They are expressed in two passages—one from the Bible and the other from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. In the light of spiritual understanding, these passages are clearly correlated.

"There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter," declares the statement in Science and Health. "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." And it ends, "Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual."Science and Health, p. 468
