I am deeply grateful for my most recent healing, that of a whiplash injury.
Several years before I became a student of Christian Science, I had suffered a whiplash injury, which occurred when my parked car was struck from behind. That first injury was such that bending the torso forward was virtually impossible. A variety of material medicine methods effected no cure, and I wound up wearing a neck brace and was faced with an operation to fuse several vertebrae in the neck. Being an avid participant in bow hunting, softball, and sports car racing, I couldn't see any future in wearing a brace or having a perpetually stiff neck, so I separated myself from material medicine and embarked upon a self-administered exercise course. Gradually I got better and within three years resumed an active physical life.
Associated with this injury was a long and successful legal action and defense by a lawyer who handled nothing but whiplash cases. This aspect resulted in my becoming exceedingly familiar with the symptoms and treatment of whiplash injuries. I thought the very worst thing that could happen would be an aggravation of an old injury.
