One of the greatest joys one can have is a healing for oneself or another through the understanding of God as taught in Christian Science.
I shall always be grateful that Mrs. Eddy established The Christian Science Board of Lectureship. My first contact with this Science was through reading a lecture printed in The Christian Science Monitor sent to me by my brother. He had sensed my need of help in raising my four children after the sudden passing of my husband.
One day my oldest son, then about eleven years of age, managed to secure a rope to an electric light pole. Holding the other end securely, he was swinging out into the traffic. In doing so he was hit by an automobile. When I heard the commotion, I looked out of the window and saw men carrying my unconscious son into an undertaker's establishment nearby. Now, the truth I had read and remembered from the lecture was that God is Life. I held to this angel message and called loudly to my son by name, commanding him to "come right upstairs." To the amazement of those gathered around, he stepped down from the table on which he had been laid and climbed the several flights of stairs to our apartment. Many of the people followed him. I met them at the door and told them firmly that all was well, thanked them, and asked them to leave. There were no aftereffects. My son was free of any physical harm, but we both did learn a lesson.
