You spoke at the 1971 College Biennial on the subject of sex. Why were you interested in doing this?
I was asked to do so by the Biennial Steering Committee, and I agreed to do so because I think that young people, as well as older ones, need to get a more balanced view of the place of sex in human experience. In the practice of Christian Science, and in life in general, I've seen such extremes. On the one hand, intense sensuality, mesmeric in effect. On the other, suppression of natural feelings, with unnecessary guilt and shame. Sex is one of the powerful urges of the human being. Today commercial and criminal instincts are using it destructively.
Were you talking solely about the physical aspects of sex?
