Mr. Welz: Number 6 in the Order of Services for the Wednesday Meetings, as listed in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, provides for the congregation to give "experiences, testimonies, and remarks on Christian Science." Man.,p.122; Exactly what does this mean? Only testimonies of healing? Or does it also mean freedom to give discourses on Christian Science and experiences other than testimonies of healing?
Mrs. Price: Well, the motive for giving a testimony is also given in the Manual, isn't it? Section 24 of Article VIII refers to Paul's statement, "Glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."I Cor. 6:20 And there Mrs. Eddy says of testimony regarding the healing of the sick, "More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, 'who healeth all thy diseases' (Psalm 103:3)." I would think a testimony is primarily intended to testify to the healing of the sick.
Mr. Aylwin: I would agree with that generally, but I think there are times when an experienced Christian Scientist can say something germane to the readings that helps bring out the spiritual sense more clearly, and this can be very helpful to the congregation.
