Some years ago a friend said to me, "I used to believe church elections were governed by God, but now I wonder if it is only personal sense." At the time I was tempted to agree with her. It certainly did look as if there were many injustices. Many well-qualified people seemed to be passed over in favor of those who were more articulate or perhaps more socially acceptable. But isn't this just what suppositional mortal mind, in its claim to reverse the divine order, would have us believe? It is not at all in accord with the teachings of Christian Science to believe that injustices are real. God never made them.
Actually, as this Science enables one to prove, no one is dependent upon other human beings for satisfaction, appreciation, or progress. Because divine Principle is supreme, every individual and every situation is under His control. Mrs. Eddy writes, "Science reveals only one Mind, and this one shining by its own light and governing the universe, including man, in perfect harmony." Science and Health, pp. 510, 511;
He doesn't govern everything except church affairs; He governs everything. The more we understand that God's law of good is governing all, the more harmony we will see manifested in church activities.
