Travel with Certainty

From the June 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Driving through the busy traffic of a large city one day, I felt a sudden surge of gratitude for my expectation, supported by long experience, of always arriving at my destination safely and on time. Even over many years of world travel, my schedules had always been met.

What was responsible for this consistent harmony? I had attributed it, in a general way, to a spiritual understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him as taught in Christian Science. Deeper reflection, however, revealed that dominion in human affairs is based on this divine fact: man actually expresses, embodies, every idea of God. He embodies omnipresence! This, I saw, was the spiritual idea underlying the human experience of safety and punctuality.

We can all be grateful for the spiritual truths of God and man that act as the activating force in harmonious human living. What we see as good human timing or accomplishment is actually the working of divine law. When thinking is poised in the absolute All of God, Spirit, the human inevitably corresponds to the larger dominion and expansiveness of spiritualized thought.
