Even the most discouraging case can be...

From the June 1975 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Even the most discouraging case can be healed in Christian Science. In 1946 I suffered damage to my spinal cord and was completely paralyzed. X rays showed what is commonly called a broken neck. I lost much weight. After months, motion came back to my legs and feet but my hands and arms remained almost motionless. I could barely move enough to take care of my physical needs. For five months I wore a complicated brace. I lived on baby food for almost seven years. Because of emaciation my stomach dropped, and I wore a steel brace to support it.

Finally, when I felt so very discouraged, I decided to look into Christian Science. I had known of it, but not what it is, and had a false notion that Christian Scientists worship Mary Baker Eddy. But I was desperate; I had very little money left, no income, and was alone in the world so far as financial support was concerned. I could not work.

A voice inside kept saying, "Go to the Christian Science Reading Room." So I went and told my story to the librarian and walked out with a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy, and a Christian Science Quarterly. I, who had difficulty sitting up at all, sat and read until two o'clock in the morning. I had hope! Nothing was incurable, I began to realize, for as the Bible says (Mark 10:27), "With God all things are possible."
