Immortality—Now!

From the February 1976 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We can become conscious of our immortal status as sons and daughters of God right now because, as Christian Science teaches, immortality is not attained by-dying into an unknown future state but by-becoming increasingly aware of man's unbroken unity with God, Life. Indeed, immortality is an inherent quality or characteristic of each of God's ideas, and is included as such among the divine attributes referred to by Mrs. Eddy when she writes: "All substance, intelligence, wisdom, being, immortality, cause, and effect belong to God. These are His attributes, the eternal manifestations of the infinite divine Principle, Love."Science and Health, p. 275;

As the reflection of God, eternal Life, man embodies the immutable nature of the divine Being, forever at the standpoint of unvarying perfection. He is not a mortal but God's likeness, therefore ever spiritual, whole, and free. All that actually exists is Life and its manifestation— vitality, strength, freshness, spontaneity— giving life and activity to its spiritual creation, including man, in the continual unfoldment of its own inexhaustible nature.

The realization of this truth of being is the very basis of health and harmony, elevating thought above the false, limiting belief that we are mortals to the truth of our identity as God's own image.
