Since coming into Christian Science I have had sufficient proof to satisfy myself that God has cared for me throughout my life. For many years, almost from my birth, I had to face innumerable difficulties. I would call them challenges—challenges of health, finances, and society. Now with a little knowledge of Christian Science I have no doubt that all these illustrate what Mary Baker Eddy states in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (p. 66), "Trials are proofs of God's care."
In my part of the world it is generally believed that an individual's chances of being born to a good home environment and educated parents, and of being heir to other amenities conducive to healthy physical and spiritual growth, are as rare as locating the proverbial needle in a haystack.
Not more than 2 to 3 percent of the people in this country, with a population numbering nearly fourteen million, have a working knowledge of the English language. Translating Science and Health into the local languages has yet to come. When I look back upon the long and arduous road I have traveled, I consider it a great blessing that I received an English education in a good school, so that I could read Science and Health. It has helped me gain new insights into God's universe.
