From the November 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The following statement issued by The Christian Science Board of Directors was published in the Journal of March 1929. Three of the Directors on the Board at that time had been students in Mrs. Eddy's classes, and a fourth had served in her household for an extended period during her latter years. All the Board members had been closely associated for many years with workers who had worked in Mrs. Eddy's household or had served under her personal direction in important official capacities.

Because of questions that arise from time to time, it seems appropriate to reprint the statement for the information of Christian Scientists:

Because of aggressive propaganda, apparently circulated to discredit Mrs. Eddy and to induce belief that she abandoned her own teaching, "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 167), we deem it timely to make the following statement.
