By defining God as the one divine Mind, and man as the expression of this Mind rather than as a mortal with a mind of his own, Christian Science shows spiritual thoughts emanating from the divine Mind to be the true fabric of being.
Mortal thoughts don't start from the brain, although they may seem to. The brain, like everything else material, starts from mortal thought, but both thought and brain are subordinate to divine Mind. When we understand our relationship to the one divine Mind, our thought reflects increasingly the harmony of that Mind. Then, what we call our brain works better.
God communicates with us through thought—clear, strong, intuitive thought. We call this prayer. But to God it is spontaneous self-expression—Mind's thoughts communicating themselves to man. How many of these thoughts have we appropriated today? And what have we done with them? Our day's work will tell us at a glance.
