Truth's Imperative Call

From the May 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In biblical times, the blowing of the trumpet by those in authority signaled a call not to be taken lightly. Response to it in times of danger took priority over all other activities and frequently saved lives. Those traditional trumpetings are symbolic of the imperative call Truth makes to each of us, hourly and continually. The fact that Truth is continually calling indicates that, as mortals, we are apparently asleep, for there would be no need to repeatedly call one who is awake and consciously present.

How does Truth call us? Though to the material senses its voice may seem inaudible, Truth, the supreme authority, appeals to us in unmistakable tones, proclaiming the law of omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent God. Love is coincident with law.

The truth of being to which we are called in Christian Science is radiant with divine Love. It is also unalterable, divine Science. The law of divine Love is in its oneness. Because there is one God, there is in reality but one Love. Any love that departs from the nature of the love of God is an illusion.
