". . . the robins sing always the same song"

From the May 1977 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One day, in an interview, Bernardo Bertolucci was discussing how certain artists follow a consistent theme throughout their career. He said: "Do you know the Italian painter, Giorgio Morandi? He painted bottles all the time. Always the same subject. And there are some directors who make always the same film. And poets who write always the same poem. This to me is very beautiful. Because the robins sing always the same song." Joseph Gelmis, The Film Director as Superstar (Garden City, N.Y.: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1970), p. 118;

To have a constant theme song throughout our lives might suggest boredom and dullness. Yet if that refrain opened up the knowledge of how to overcome every difficult situation, the prospect would be thrilling!

One man has stood above everyone else in practicing such a theme throughout his career. Over and over Christ Jesus sang the same song — the glory and supremacy of God, Spirit, superseding every masquerade of matter. The Bible records how Jesus proved the Christ-spirit to be his constant companion. His immediate reaction in every circumstance was to trust God and turn to Him for guidance, support, inspiration, and healing power. By example and words he declared to his disciples that they, too, could depend solely on God's divine sustenance to deliver them from the burdens of the day.
