The Bible records a time when the children of Israel were told by Moses— as they prepared to go into battle with the Canaanites upon entering the Promised Land—that God said a complete victory over their enemies must include even destroying "all their pictures." Num. 33:52;
This can be a valuable admonition for anyone who is dragging into present experience memories of evil from the past— recalling former suffering, perhaps resenting a wrong, or constantly torturing himself for past sin. How much better, instead of keeping a spotlight on the discord and reliving it, to magnify good, thanking God for His blessings and acknowledging His harmonious government of His creation as the real history of one's life.
We no longer suffer from discord when the mental picture—the memory—is erased and replaced by the spiritual conviction that health, purity, goodness, have been continuous, uninterrupted by even a momentary sickness or sin. God is the only creator, and we can know that His nature alone is expressed in His creation.
