With a heart full of gratitude for all that Christian Science means to me, I humbly submit this testimony to show one or two reasons for the faith that is in me.
I first became interested in Christian Science when I walked into a Christian Science Reading Room and learned that this is a healing religion. Only two weeks later an opportunity came for me to prove its healing efficacy.
While serving in the armed forces I accepted the task of training a team in my unit to take part in a cross-country race competition. After some days I had a very badly sprained ankle. The ankle was discolored and swollen. My company commander noticed the difficulty I had in walking and asked me whether the condition was being attended to; and I said, "Yes, it will be all right soon." A Christian Scientist I had met the day before had said that I would be benefited by reading the ninety-first Psalm; I therefore studied it, especially these verses (9-11): "Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."
