I consider having been raised in Christian Science a precious legacy from my mother. It proved to be a firm basis for much-needed spiritual development, enabling me to overcome difficulties in the ensuing years.
One need was for greater stability in my family. Moves were frequent due to my husband's transfers in his work to other towns. This made our children's school life difficult, and I had to adjust in each move my own desire to be a useful member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I always joined a branch church in the new location as soon as the church permitted, and felt blessed and spiritually rewarded by serving on committees and teaching in Sunday School, if only for a few months.
At one point we felt our life would be more stable, so we purchased a house, which we enjoyed for over two years. Then due to another move and a depression we were unable to sell the house and lost all our equity.
