Testimonies of Healing

From the March 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Once when I was on a bus I struck my head on a sunken luggage rack, above. The sound drew the concern of fellow passengers. I felt faint, and my head ached intensely. However, I assured them I would be alright. After I was seated I heard two words as if spoken aloud. They were, "Not guilty." I recognized these to be from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, where there is an allegory of a trial in court, and Mortal Man is found not guilty to suffer (see p. 442). I accepted the words and their implication wholeheartedly. Immediately all faintness and pain in my head disappeared. I was healed. Commencing the long walk home in the dark, I mentally sang words from the concluding hymn at the testimony meeting I had attended that evening (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 2): "The beam of Truth displaces/The darkness of the night." Soon a bright light illumined the way as a friend drew up and gave me a ride home. How joyfully I testified to this quick recovery at the meeting the following week!

At one time a young student working where I was employed had asked me if I was a Christian Scientist. This surprised me, as I'd never mentioned the fact. "Yes" was the reply. How soon we were to see the healing Christ in action!

A condition arose at work. Kindly folk were concerned and wanted me to go for medical attention. Instead, I asked to be allowed to go home for the rest of the day, and the following one, to work out the situation through prayer in Christian Science. Reluctantly they agreed, as I promised I would obey their request on Monday, if the healing was not apparent. I had Christian Science treatment from a practitioner.
