Poems

Prodigal

From the March 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I've been a long time coming, Father,
To the place where I've always been.
And what did I find when I got there, Father,
But the Mother-love—without, within?

I think I always knew You, Father,
As strength and power, as source of law;
But somehow I had forgotten, Father,
The Mother-love, which now I saw.

I was at home and I knew it, Father,
No longer cold or starved—bereft;
At home in the life of Spirit, Father,
In the Mother-love I had never left.
