Illusion disappears!

From the March 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Did you ever see a mirage? The traveler knows when he sees one that it is an illusion, devoid of reality, place, and substance.

This is how Christian Science classifies the various ills that seem to beset mankind. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy tells us, "Inasmuch as God is good and the fount of all being, He does not produce moral or physical deformity; therefore such deformity is not real, but is illusion, the mirage of error." Science and Health, pp. 243-244 Is this hard to believe? Not if you admit that God is infinite good and the cause and creator of all that actually exists.

Consider the biblical account of creation in the first chapter of Genesis. This implies that man and the universe are evolved from God, Spirit, and so are spiritual. In this divine record we see the mandate of divine Mind as the only cause and its effect as "very good." Gen. 1:31 This eternal verdict can never be annulled since it is based on the law of divine Principle. It permits no element of decay, since Soul and its perfect attributes constitute the indestructible substance of all existence. God is incapable of producing imperfection. He cannot be the author of discord.
