My maternal grandmother found Christian Science when I was a small child. After attending a Church of Christ, Scientist, for the first time she said, "This is what I've been looking for all my life!" A short time later my mother became very ill and requested Christian Science treatment, as she had lost all faith in medical means. A practitioner was called to pray for her, and she was healed quickly. From then on our family depended on Science for healing.
During childhood I was healed of a goiter through the prayer of a practitioner. I was a delicate child, and as a teen-ager was faced with many problems. At seventeen I entered the business world and was very unhappy because of extreme timidity, self-consciousness, and an inferiority complex. I became acquainted with a practitioner who later became my Sunday School teacher. Her inspired help led me out of this wilderness of false beliefs, and I began to apply Christian Science for myself. In all ways my life improved.
Among my early healings was that of apparent arthritis. I had reached a point where it was difficult to go to and from my place of employment. I recognized the need to take a firmer stand for the truths of spiritual being, and this I did, praying earnestly about the problem. It wasn't long before what I'd learned about my true nature as God's perfect child brought a complete healing.
