Revolt against cruel taxation!

Matthew 22:15-22

From the May 1982 issue of The Christian Science Journal

They came
to frame

a truthful man with blasphemous insurrection.
With hypocritical mask torn from faceless question,

they listened.
He illustrated

an understanding without flaw or contradiction
that enables escape from mortal mind's self-destructive taxation.

In other words:

Thought humanly engraved with images of mortal selfhood
taxes itself until its despotic demands are met;

and

we
(man bearing the image and likeness of God)

pay our "debt"
(Love graciously claiming its own)

through spiritual sense
(the divine medium of exchange whereby objects of
material sense are given up for immortal ideas of Soul).

Marveling at Truth's revolutionary
object lesson for humanity

they left
in debt.
