Up and out of blame

From the May 1982 issue of The Christian Science Journal

That's enough!
No more recrimination.
No more
I should have,
I shouldn't have,
Why did I or If only . . .

If only what?
If only you had acted a little less like a mortal?
A little less like a mortal is not enough.
Man is immortal.

With self-doubt cast out as soon as detected,
With a yearning to bless that's God-directed,
There will be less occasion for the
I should have, I shouldn't have,
Why did I, or if onlys of this world,
Because God's love
Will be leading.
