Since I began the study of Christian Science twenty-seven years ago, I have found the testimonies of healing in our periodicals to be a valuable asset in forwarding the demonstration of this great truth for both myself and my family— especially in times of urgent need. I would like to share the following experience regarding our youngest daughter, LeeAnn, who is now in her teens.
Shortly after LeeAnn began her third year in school, my husband and I received notice that she had been selected along with some other third graders for transfer to another third-grade class. The school had just acquired an additional third grade teacher. This allowed for the expansion of the third grade from three classes to four, with a smaller class size. Our daughter's expression of childhood displeasure over this change seemed normal enough, so I gave it little thought. Soon after the transfer took place, I met LeeAnn's new teacher at "Back to School Night." The teacher indicated to me how happy she was to have our daughter in her class because she was such a help to her. I thought at the time how well everything had turned out.
Presently, LeeAnn began to have attacks that appeared to be asthmatic. She would have difficulty breathing, and there were violent coughing spells. When these attacks occurred at night, I prayed, endeavoring to align my thought with God, knowing that in reality "all is well" with God's child. I would hold our daughter and talk to her of God's great love for her and help her to go back to sleep. When the attacks occurred at school, the school nurse would call, requesting me to take LeeAnn home. During one two-week period I had to pick her up almost every day.
