The importance of spiritual receptivity

From the October 1984 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science reveals that our true individuality as God's reflection embodies every spiritual quality of God. As we strive to put this truth into practice, we see how to open up our thinking and be receptive to the inherent infinitude of spiritual good. We become increasingly responsive to good and governed by it.

Then our prayers become more effective in healing disease and destroying sin. They awaken us to greater harmony and well-being, because we are receptive to God and reflect more of His presence.

Through heartfelt prayer, we gain a stronger desire to express the spiritual qualities of being, such as love, usefulness, purity, and dominion. As we pray earnestly to be receptive to these qualities, we learn to cherish them and identify with them until our character is changed.
