Mary Baker Eddy
What was it about our Leader that drew crowds to hear her speak? Writing about the last time Mrs. Eddy gave a sermon in public, one of her secretaries says in his reminiscences, "The auditorium was crowded to the doors by citizens of Concord, as well as followers from Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Montreal, and elsewhere." Quoted in Clifford P. Smith, Historical Sketches from the Life of Mary Baker Eddy and the History of Christian Science (Boston:The Chriistian Science Publishing Society, 1941), p. 120.
