God-derived equilibrium

From the May 1984 issue of The Christian Science Journal

God, divine Mind, controls the universe; and man, God's spiritual idea— the true identity of you and me—reflects His equipoise. God, the one infinite Mind, is actually our Mind. Understanding this, you and I can experience God's absolute control over our thoughts. This is one of the most significant and inspiring of all the facts we can realize about ourselves.

This fact notwithstanding, too many people fail to accept this glorious God-given ability and allow others to upset their mental equilibrium. Christian Science explains exactly how one may put off this liability and take better charge of his life. The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, writes of the man that you and I actually are: "His birthright is dominion, not subjection. He is lord of the belief in earth and heaven,—himself subordinate alone to his Maker." Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 518.

According to the teachings of Christian Science, all consciousness is Mind. Rejecting any other consciousness, we demonstrate Mind's exercise of its own faculties and know Mind through reflection. Our acceptance of the oneness of divine Mind displaces belief in a so-called human mind that can undergo disequilibrium. In man's real spiritual selfhood, the harmony and control of divine Principle, God, are forever individualized. Man cannot lose them, because his office or function is to embody them.
