Victory over personal conflict

From the May 1984 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Do you enjoy disagreements, quarreling, strained relationships? Surely few of us do. Then why do they occur?

Don't these discordant events occur because we fail to recognize and demonstrate spiritual man and spiritual substance, all under the control of a just and loving God? Shouldn't this divine control heal conflict with others? It can, and the resulting harmony is indispensable to proving that each one of us is in reality God's perfect, spiritual idea. The necessity of this proof is the reason for the presentation of absolute Christianity to humanity. Christ Jesus made it very clear that we do not truly worship God until we settle every grievance with our fellowman (see Matt. 5:23, 24).

So it is appropriate for each of us to ask, "If my thoughts are burdened by contention and conflict, shouldn't I harmonize them or, better still, prevent hostility from arising?"
