One summer when I was in college, I was invited by some friends to go on a three-day sailing trip. The night before our departure, we all went down to the boat so we could get an early start the next morning. That night I began to have some difficulty walking. I thought that maybe I just had a cramp, so I didn't give it much thought.
Next morning, however, after we had set sail, the difficulty in walking rapidly increased. By the second morning I had completely lost the use of my left leg. This made the simple act of getting in and out of bed a tremendous effort.
Everyone on the trip was a Christian Scientist. And although each person was aware of the problem, no one ever said a word about it, except to offer physical assistance when I needed it. I'm sure they knew that an understanding of God's great love for His children would heal me.
