Christian Science found me during the Second World War, when we opened our home to a young woman who was in the armed forces and needed somewhere to stay. She was a Christian Scientist, and she let her light shine. Up to that point I had never heard of Christian Science. This was at a time when I had just decided I could no longer attend the church I had been attending, because I felt the sermons were too political and did not teach the important things that people needed to know.
I wanted to find out all I could about this Science. I had little opportunity at the time to attend a branch church regularly or to be with other Scientists, but I found a Christian Science practitioner who helped me a great deal. After our daughter was born at the end of the war, the practitioner helped me through prayer to overcome a deep depression brought on after I had suffered a very painful abscess. Although the healing took place gradually, I was completely freed.
Two years later my husband and I and our two children left England to live in Canada, where we were able to attend a branch church more often. As our children grew up they experienced many healings.
