The greatest gift one can give a child is surely to teach him of the love of God and to let him actually see how a genuine knowledge of God and of man's relationship to Him will be a blessing and a benefit. I had the experience of being reared in a home where Christian Science was studied and practiced. In fact, I owe my very life to the healing efficacy of this wonderful revelation.
At the time of my birth, I have been told, there were grave complications. Two doctors and several nurses attended my mother in the delivery. One of the physicians told my father that there was no chance that the baby could be saved. However, they would do everything possible to save my mother.
Neither of my parents was a Christian Scientist at that time. But because my father's brother had been healed through prayer of heart disease a short time prior to this, my father called his brother to inquire about whether Christian Science could help in this particular crisis. The brother urged my father to call the same Christian Science practitioner who had helped him. This he did, and the practitioner prayed for my mother. Within a very short time the birth took place and both mother and child were well. This marvelous proof of God's love and protection brought Christian Science into our home.
