Some religions offer a course of instruction to introduce their doctrines. Christian Science provides class instruction for individuals who are settled enough in Science to have a proven record. They should be showing promise in practicing the best they can what they have learned and in overcoming whatever is unlike God. (See Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy, Art. XXVI, Sect. 2.) In the Bible the Revelator records the promise of the Spirit that "to him that overcometh" will be given "to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God." Rev. 2:7. Mrs. Eddy explains in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "The 'tree of life' is significant of eternal reality or being." Science and Health, p. 538.
Class avails us of pure Truth; and Truth is divine reality. The text used for teaching Primary class is a clear, concise message found at the very heart of the divine revelation of Truth. It is the chapter "Recapitulation" from Science and Health, designated in the Church Manual.See man., Art. XXVII, Sect. 3.
Class adds joy and inspiration to understanding and obedience. In presenting an in-depth study of "Recapitulation," class illustrates how to study deeply. By drawing from all parts of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings for corroboration and explanation, class awakens a better understanding of the fundamentals of Christian Science: of one God, who is All—divine Principle, Spirit, Soul, Mind, and Life; of man created in God's likeness to express His oneness and infinitude; and of Christ, God's healing and saving power that Christ Jesus exemplified.
