On February 1, John Lewis Selover, C.S.B., of Palo Alto, California, was elected to The Christian Science Board of Directors. He succeeds H. Dickinson Rathbun, C.S.B., who has returned to his practice and teaching in his home city of Richmond, Virginia.
Mr. Selover has long been active in the public practice and is also a teacher of Christian Science. Prior to the time of this appointment he had been the Committee on Publication for Northern California and also served in The Mother Church's Field Assistant program. On two previous occasions he held key posts at headquarters in Boston, including Public Affairs Administrator, Trustee of Church Realty Trust, and Manager of what was then the Department of Branches and Practitioners. Many readers will remember him as host of the worldwide videoconference last December, "To live for all mankind." He is a member of Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Palo Alto, where he has served as chairman of the executive board, Sunday School teacher, and First Reader. We are most grateful to Mr. Selover for accepting this appointment to the Board, and for the talent and love he brings to it.
Our gratitude extends to Mr. Rathbun as well on his return to Richmond. In May 1981 he became a member of the Board and brought to his work the qualities of love and steadfastness which have always been evident in his service to the Cause of Christian Science. Characteristic of his devotion to Mary Baker Eddy's Church, he was willing four years ago to postpone a well earned retirement from his position as Committee on Publication for Washington, D.C., to answer the call to serve in this important capacity. Mr. Rathbun has our deepest love and appreciation for his past and continuing contribution to the forward thrust of this movement.
