Let Christ illumine the teaching

From the May 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

What a great opportunity it is to teach Sunday School—to share one's inspiration and understanding with responsive little ones or inquisitive young adults.

But is it really "our" teaching? Christ Jesus, the great Teacher, said, "I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak." John 12:49. When we know as Jesus did that the truth we strive to voice is God's holy Word, our consciousness opens to receive and give forth the precise ideas that will meet the individual needs of our students.

Divine Truth is God. Therefore we cannot originate anything new to give to anyone, but we all can learn more about Him. We can discover the infinity, grandeur, and majesty of Spirit. The universe in which we live we can find to be spiritual, thus included in God's allness. We can realize that at every moment and in every place we are actually dwelling in God, who is all true substance; that we are at one with Him. Man's substance is perfect Love; each one of us is in reality the very emanation of divine Love.
