Perfect Mind, perfect action

From the May 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It's easy to see how thought moves the hand. But what about the so-called involuntary functions such as the action of the eye, the heart, or the digestive system?

Christian Science shows that what is miscalled involuntary action is the result of thought as certainly as is the action considered to be voluntary. But this Science does not set about to correct faulty action by mechanical means such as biofeedback or by mortally mental methods such as self-hypnosis. If someone is in need of organic or functional healing, he needs more than mere human will can deliver. He needs to understand that God is Mind, Spirit, the producer of all true action. He needs to realize his true nature as the child of God, as the direct effect of Mind.

Over a century ago, Mrs. Eddy wrote in Science and Health, "To understand that Mind is infinite, not bounded by corporeality, not dependent upon the ear and eye for sound or sight nor upon muscles and bones for locomotion, is a step towards the Mind-science by which we discern man's nature and existence."Science and Health, p. 84.
