My introduction to the healing power of Christian Science came about when my grandfather was healed in a matter of hours of what had been diagnosed as a blood clot on the brain.
As wonderful as this healing was, however, not one of us in the family took up the study of this healing Science except Grandfather himself. It wasn't until seven years later that I was curious enough about Christian Science to actually read the textbook—Science and Health by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Reading this book answered a lot of questions about the Bible that I had been asking my Sunday School teachers in vain for a long time.
Over the years since then, I have experienced many healings in Science, including those of adenoid problems (so diagnosed many times by public school doctors), what appeared to be a broken bone in my foot (healed in two days' time), as well as many minor injuries. Once a large industrial tire on a log skidder exploded while I was inflating it. I was propelled ten or twelve feet. My right leg received the brunt of the impact, but I landed on my left shoulder; both seemed to be badly injured. I chose to place radical reliance on God through Christian Science, so I did not go to a hospital. I did not miss any time from my job and in about a week—through my own prayer— I was completely healed. There are no scars, and I have no difficulty at all moving normally.
