Applied monotheism

From the November 1987 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Are you looking for a guideline in your daily thinking and acting? Can monotheism be that guide? Can we apply the worship of one God in a practical way, a way that leads to healing?

As we acknowledge only one God we begin to see that there is only one creative intelligence, the divine Mind, the central power governing the universe. Christian Science shows us that we can trust this power to govern our individual lives.

The development of monotheism in Bible times led to an enlarged concept of one God as Supreme Judge, as Lawgiver, as Father, as Mother, as divine Love. The prophets, and above all Christ Jesus, played key roles in mankind's move toward monotheism. Christ Jesus proved the one God's supremacy and omnipotence in healing the sick and overcoming material conditions. He preached love and confidence in God instead of fear.
