Christian Science is the key that has unlocked for me the treasures of an understanding of our dear Father, God. Each healing I have experienced has brought much, much more than mere physical relief (although that in itself is worth a great deal). Learning more of the truth and joy of Life, God, is the impetus that makes each day "a day of fresh promise" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 236).
A truly meaningful healing occurred several years ago. While visiting friends one weekend, I fell down a hill, severely injuring my legs. My husband was with me at the time and immediately declared, "Accidents are unknown to God . . ."— the first part of a fuller statement from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy which reads (p. 424): "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony."
The immediacy and absolute conviction of my husband's spiritual support, as well as his lovingkindness in helping me move about, were immeasurably important in promoting the healing that followed.
