There is a familiar saying: In unity there is strength. No one can deny that as we gain a realization of our unity with God there is strength. And as we all unite in our reliance on God, this strength becomes an even greater influence for good in human affairs.
The antithesis of unity is separation. We can't afford to permit ourselves to take a path of separation—either from God or from others who unite to bring God into sharp focus in their daily lives.
Mrs. Eddy used the Boston Herald in April 1908 to send this message to her followers: "Will the dear Christian Scientists accept my thanks for their magnificent gifts, and allow me to say that I am not fond of an abundance of material presents; but I am cheered and blessed when beholding Christian healing, unity among brethren, and love to God and man; this is my crown of rejoicing, for it demonstrates Christian Science."The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 274.
