From the May 1987 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In rearing a son and a daughter, I've had ample proof that Christian Science heals quickly and effectively. It heals more than physical ills; it heals character faults as well, freeing us to live happier, more fruitful lives.

When my son was in kindergarten, an ugly growth developed next to his nose and grew at an alarming rate. The child was kept home from kindergarten and I asked an experienced Christian Scientist to pray for him. I told her that in addition to the physical difficulty I felt there was a real need for my son to be healed of a strong sense of self-will, which was making him disobedient and difficult to live with. From that point on I prayed vigorously to see only the obedient, loving child of God, who knows only the divine will.

In about two weeks from the time the growth appeared, it dropped off, revealing new pink skin underneath. The self-will and disobedience dropped away too, revealing the lovely, childlike obedience and innocence that were inherently my son's all along.
