My family became interested in Christian Science when I was about four years old. I have been a serious student of it since I was a teen-ager. I had especially caring, loving Sunday School teachers during high school, who helped me see the very positive, practical nature of Christian Science.
There were no funds when it came time for me to go to college. This was during the depth of the Depression and my father was unemployed. However, through my family's prayers and the spiritual aid of a practitioner, the way opened up for me to begin. I was able to complete the four years without a break. Also, my father found work.
My husband, who was a Christian Scientist, and I saw many benefits as a result of turning to prayer in raising our four children. So-called childhood diseases were healed very quickly. Also, even though there were at times struggles financially and in finding adequate housing during World War II, we always found places to live while my husband served in the Army. At one point I learned a valuable and unexpected lesson about home and possessions.
