Christian Science was introduced to my family by a neighbor. My father did not pursue the study of this Science, but my mother and I did; eventually we joined a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I became involved in its activities, serving at different times as clerk, teacher in the Sunday School, superintendent of the Sunday School, Second Reader, and then First Reader.
At the time I filled this last position, I was living in a city one hundred and sixty miles away; my husband had taken a job there, and we came to our permanent home only on weekends. To be present at the Wednesday testimony meetings involved a complicated bus trip of over four hours, an overnight stay, and a return trip to the city the following day. But I learned that when we are working for our loving Father, He takes care of everything. For the more than two years I had to make this weekly trip, all things worked out harmoniously. I now look back on this whole experience with love and gratitude. It was a happy time, and it brought a great deal of spiritual growth.
After my husband's assignment was finished, it became necessary to move. The price given for our property was sufficient to buy a house in many ways more convenient and attractive than our previous one; and it was only four blocks from a branch church!
