We are pleased to announce the election of Richard C. Bergenheim, C.S.B., of New York City, to The Christian Science Board of Directors. The appointment was effective July 1, 1988. Mr. Bergenheim is a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science who has served both his own field and The Mother Church in a number of capacities, including a term as Vice-President of the Board of Education. He also served for several years as a member of the Bible Lesson Committee. Readers of the periodicals will be familiar with his name as a frequent contributor of articles. Mr. Bergenheim and his wife are members of Second Church of Christ, Scientist, New York. Mr. Bergenheim will continue to teach his classes and hold his association meetings in New York City.
Mr. Bergenheim succeeds Michael B. Thorneloe, C.S.B., who had earlier announced his intention to retire from the Board. The Boston area will continue to be home base for Mr. and Mrs. Thorneloe as he fulfills his new duties as Circuit Lecturer in accordance with Article XXXI, Section 5, of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy. The lecture circuit as defined in the Manual covers the United States, Canada, and Great Britain and Ireland. We extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Thorneloe for all that he has contributed during his years of service on the Board, as well as for his previous work on the Board of Lectureship and as Committee on Publication for his home county of Yorkshire, England. We are grateful for his willingness to accept the appointment to serve as Circuit Lecturer.
