THEOLOGY AND HEALING

From the August 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian theology that is more than a reasoning through of familiar human premises starts from the words and works of Christ Jesus. It must necessarily include healing—healing of the sin and sickness that underlie the largest problems of the world today. This series of Journal articles will explore a variety of aspects of the healing theology of Christian Science, its relationship to traditional theological views, and its meaning for us as we near the threshold of the twenty-first century.

Theology has often been considered a subject for the seminary—something only specialists could be expected to understand. But in Christian Science, where everyone is a lay member and all are equal, theology is viewed differently. All members are expected to understand and practice the theology of Christian Science. In fact, an understanding of this theology is indispensable to the practice of Christian Science.
