From the November 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The mental landscape of our times appears to be rapidly changing. It can seem breathtaking and hopeful or sometimes bewildering. It has its own complex frontiers: new technologies, redefined family structures, changing values, and bold financial, religious, and political contours. Fundamental questions of meaning and reality loom large before us—like rugged mountain ranges.

Thoughtful books, films, and articles from various fields will inevitably play a useful role in reading this mental landscape and focusing the questions that must be dealt with in an advancing spiritual era.
