"They should take our magazine, work for it, write for it, and read it" Miscellaneous Writings, p. 271.—that's what Mrs. Eddy, who established this magazine, said students of Christian Science should do for it.
When I first came across this counsel of our Leader, I'd been subscribing to the Journal (and the Christian Science Sentinel and The Herald of Christian Science too) for quite some time and reading them religiously (pardon the pun!); but I had been neither working nor writing for them. Right then and there I resolved to work prayerfully, regularly, in support of the mission of each. But write for them? Me?
Although I knew that one of the privileges of Mother Church membership is writing articles, poems, or testimonies of healing for these magazines, never had it occurred to me that this actually meant me! But now that I had considered it, what was I going to do about it? Prayerfully and daily ponder this privilege, I decided.
