Lectures: there's a fresh wind blowing

From the April 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A Christian Science lecture at a shopping mall. In a public park. To a group of Goodwill Industries workers in Los Angeles. On television in New York State. At a branch church—which had traditionally held lectures elsewhere. At an international women 's conference in northern Europe. In a chapel program at the Pentagon in Washington, D. C. At a senior citizens' residence in Maine.

Branch church members are finding new inspiration in the provision for lectures in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy. Many were encouraged by the Global Lecture Preparatory Meeting in the fall of 1987 to look anew at the lecture activity—and at their communities.

We've gathered reports—from lecturers, from lecture committee members, and from nonchurch members—that we thought would be of special interest to Workshop readers. We wish we had more space! But this sampling of comments hints that the story they tell is very much an ongoing one— that there 's work being done, signs following and more to look forward to in the months ahead.
